Women’s Hands and Voices 2019

Congratulations –

Rose-Eva Forgues-Jenkins and Lisa Pruden, CJSR-FM,

I'm Afraid of Men/Men Are Afraid of Me

On Adamant Eve, we explore feminisms and how they intersect with other social justice issues. An interesting topic that we like to delve into on the show are the variety of gendered roles that are present in society. How do these expectations help or harm different people and communities? Producers Rose-Eva Forgues-Jenkins and Marco Visconti interviewed Vivek Shraya about her book I’m Afraid of Men, which examines “how masculinity was imposed on her as a boy and continues to haunt her as a girl—and how we might reimagine gender for the twenty-first century.” - https://vivekshraya.com/projects/writing/im-afraid-of-men/

In this submission, Vivek Shraya talks about her perspective on womanhood and femininity. We also discuss how Shraya uses her book to implicate the reader and make them think about the ways in which they are complicit in misogyny and white supremacy.

Check out the award-winning submission!
