Robin Erikkson
A prairie girl at heart, robin has lived in 5 Canadian cities; Vancouver being the most recent, the most geographically dynamic, the most architecturally disappointing and the most cherry-blossomest. Twenty-one years ago, in Winnipeg, she took a step in the arduous process of finding her voice by climbing the stairs to CKUW to volunteer. Fast forward to the present - after being catatonically petrified to speak into a mic for years - robin has logged h.u.n.d.r.e.d.s of on-air hours, interviewed countless people of interest and learned to wax on pretty well about anything in particular. robin holds an M.Ed. in Art for Social Change and is delighted to facilitate creative experiences that carry meaning and value, and are pathways to discovery, personal growth and transformation.

“It's very meaningful for me to be recognized with this award by my radio peers. Community radio does amazing and necessary work in our communities. We create so much, often with so little.
I'd also like to thank Regulatory Affairs Director Freya Zaltz for her mentorship over the last 15 years. My regulatory accomplishments with the NCRA are a result of hard work on my part, but they wouldn't have been possible without Freya's generous support.
Thanks as well to my fellows at Kootenay Co-op Radio - for your creativity, your ingenuity, and your bravery. It has been a pleasure to watch the station learn and grow, navigate hard times and take pleasure in good times. I'm proud of us."
