Congratulations –
Julian Taylor's Jukebox
Julian Taylor's Jukebox is a weekly syndicated radio show hosted by award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Julian Taylor. Approximately 70% of the music Julian plays every week is from BIPOC artists. The concept for Julian Taylor's Jukebox comes from the Rowe AMI vintage jukebox in Julian's home. The music mix is all CLEAN and VERY eclectic, with a focus on independent artists, covering soul, folk, hip hop, pop, rock, country, blues, R&B, reggae and everything in between.
Not all episodes of the Jukebox have themes, but this one did and was particularly popular. Julian performed at the 2023 Winnipeg Folk Festival (the festival's 50th anniversary) and recorded this episode when he got back to Toronto. It features exclusively music from artists who played the festival in either 2023 or 2022, and includes a bunch of colourful stories about interactions with other artists at the festival. In keeping with the show's mandate to play 70% BIPOC artists and 30% indigenous artists on every episode, 31 of the 44 songs are from BIPOC artists, and 13 are from indigenous artists.
