2025 "OUT LOUD" Best in LGBTQ+ Programming
Congratulations –
CJTM (Met Radio) - Inside TMU's first ever Kiki Ball (Kinza Zafar and Maya Fettes)
The Intersection is a blended spoken word and music program centring and celebrating people on the margins. Episodes feature inclusive storytelling, emerging artists and an anti-oppressive lens into Toronto’s underrepresented communities. This show is coordinated by Kinza Zafar and Maya Fettes, and is designed to provide training and an opportunity for people to create programming grounded in the perspectives they represent.
Our submission is a segment from the first episode of The Intersection in which we cover Toronto Metropolitan University's first ever Kiki Ball in honour of Black History Month. Speaking to students and community members involved including the TMSU Queer Space, the BIPOC Collective and event participants, this segment discusses the importance of having events like this on university campuses today.
