CICK - Outside-In (Glen Ingram)
My name is Glen Ingram and I am the host and producer of Outside In. I am the Station Manager of CICK and one of the founders of the station.
Outside-In is a program that was originally designed to provide a service to the station and to artists. The concept was to play only new music that was submitted to the station. 15 years ago, this would have mainly been cd's but is now almost 100% email or digital submissions. Every week, I comb through hundreds of emails to find the best Canadian (as the show is 100% CanCon) music, no matter the genre. In this way it serves the purpose of helping ensure CICK meets the CanCon requirements, populating our music database with new music and also ensuring we give back to the artists by playing the work they have created. This concept has not changed since the show began nearly 15 years ago. What has changed was the addition of Captain San Diego. This segment features my Brother In-Law who resides in San Diego. Each episode he joins me for 15 minutes to discuss two Canadian songs he discovered that week, one he loved, and one he hated. We then go into some depth as to why the songs were selected and play selections of his choices. This segment came about from a statement he made years ago how there was no Canadian music other than Celine Dion and Bryan Adams. This inspired me to offer him a spot on my show that would challenge him to seek new Canadian music. Since that day nearly 5 years ago, he no longer complains that there is no Canadian music, but he does complain about the quality of some of it, which ads to the levity and humour of the show.

CKDU - Crossroads (Stuart Cooper)
I’m Stuart Cooper, and I am from North Vancouver, British Columbia. After transferring to Dalhousie University in 2024, I stumbled across CKDU–a discovery that has quickly become a defining part of my Halifax experience.
My passion for music began on road trips, where my parents’ music sparked a love that has since become a constant in my life. Whether I’m listening, attending live shows, or playing guitar, music remains a source of curiosity and enjoyment. Thus, the opportunity to explore one of my passions through radio did not require a second thought.
The name Crossroads is inspired by the blues song and serves as both a nod to blues and rock fans and is emblematic of my show’s character; an intersection of genres and styles. While eclectic, I believe each set remains cohesive and thoughtfully curated.

CJSR-FM 88.5 - Sunshine After Dark #200 "Jan 1979, Part 1" (John Huck)
Sunshine After Dark tells the story of disco from its humble origins in the clubs and communities of New York City, through subsequent phases of international fame, commercial exploitation, Icarian fall, and underground redemption. The spirit of disco never died and is celebrated on dance floors around the world today. On the show, I explore classic disco, Philly soul, jazz-funk, Euro disco, Canadian disco, Italo disco, post-disco, Hi-NRG, modern edits, and more.
Sunshine After Dark is like a spaceship on a journey to another time and place. I take the attitude that I am still learning what disco actually was and is and the show is a vehicle for that learning. Over the course of the past three years, I have become fascinated with the idea of playing sets of songs released in the same month or year, like a time capsule, which unlocks a unique listening experience and proves that the affective power of the music remains potent, given the right context.

Kootenay Co-op Radio - Ravel's Bolero (Doug Jamieson)
I am a volunteer programmer at Kootenay Coop Radio. As a music composition student, and professional composer, I learned a lot about the inner workings of music. I try to bring some of these insights into my weekly show Bach and Beyond, which predominantly features classical music. This show looked at the way Ravel orchestrated Bolero to make it such a satisfying and interesting work.

submission:Episode 42 - "Tubthumping"
A show recorded after a days-long deep dive into a band erroneously remembered as a one-hit-wonder, Chumbawamba, a band who should be known as some of the most eclectic and interesting bunch of anarchists who ever broke the mainstream. The show features 15 songs from across the catalog of this politically radical act, as well as showcasing some truly excellent indie metal from around the world - including works from Crones, Infections, Ashenheart, Trog, Alicia Cordisco, and others.

CJTM (Met Radio) - More Noise Please - featuring special guest Knifehandchop (Jennifer Creagh aka DJ SuperJen)
I am SuperJen, the host of the radio show "More Noise Please!" on Met Radio which is also syndicated on CFRC. I host local noise shows in Toronto and began DJing back when I was a student at Syracuse University on the college radio station. I started DJing in person gigs in NY in the early 2000's and kept doing so when I relocated to Toronto. It's been great getting back to the college/community/online airwaves and sharing music with people.
My show focuses on noise and noisy music with a large percentage of the content being local Toronto and other up and coming, DIY and underground artists that may not get play elsewhere.
My guests take over a portion of the show, or in some cases the entire show as a guest DJ.
This episode features guest DJ local Toronto musician Knifehandchop. He was releasing compilation of his work the week that it aired and he played some songs from it, as well as some of his influences and favourites that inspire him.

When she retired from her work as a communications advisor at Memorial University’s Faculty of Nursing, she decided to create her own radio program. Not on cassette tape, but in a real studio at CHMR radio! She thanks the folks at CHMR for showing her the ropes!

CFRC - Yellow Brit Road: An Alternative Journey Behind The Curtains of Music (Rue Mathur)
Yellow Brit Road is an exploration of the beating heart of music and the people behind it. A show focusing on but not limited to alternative music from the UK and Ireland, a common theme to 2024’s shows seemed to have been subverting expectations, broadening our horizons and forging new and exciting (Yellow Brit) roads on our individual and collective journeys in creativity and expression. An alternative to the expected, if you will!
I am Aarushi Mathur (Rue), a Queen’s University graduate in Kingston, Ontario and volunteer radio host at CFRC. Over the course of 2024, my show Yellow Brit Road covered happenings in alternative music scenes in and around the UK and Ireland, whether that be Irish language rap in Belfast or dance punk in Leeds, the Welsh Music Prize or the rise of ‘indie sleaze’, Bengali alt-jazz in London’s thriving neo-jazz scene, experimental, post punk noise in Bristol or the return of jungle music to the awards for the first time in 25 years. We even talked to an incredible punk band from the independent music scene of Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands (population: 14,000).
