Mia Johnson is a journalist and audio producer living and working in Toronto. She has a background in local daily news, broadcast media, podcasting and sound design with a focus on municipal issues, housing and human rights.

I spent several hours over a two-day period in the South Parkdale neighbourhood late March, approaching residents and conducting interviews to better understand the desperate need for public bathrooms in Toronto. Toronto public space advocates say unhoused individuals and people with disabilities face greater barriers when entering public washrooms— that is, if there happens to be one close enough by. While doing streeters I met a trans resident with a bladder issue who had a lot to say, leading me to produce this audio feature.
